NOETIC is a choreographic creation by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, inspired by the concept of noetics, derived from the Greek and referring to a form of intuitive knowledge that already exists within us and throughout the universe.
The piece explores the idea that any straight line can become a curve, and that everything can connect through the form of the circle. Conceived as a deeply collective work, it gives rise to a fluid and organic movement, reminiscent of a flock of birds or a school of fish. The dancers intertwine in a continuous flow, shifting between lightness and intensity, at times resembling the cogs of a complex mechanism that evokes the dynamics of a society.
In his fourth collaboration with visual artist Antony Gormley, Cherkaoui imagines a scenography composed of long carbon-fibre rods. Initially straight, they bend under their own weight and, when assembled, form perfect circles, transforming both the space and the very meaning of form.
